About the event
Join us for a free family-friendly event outdoors!
We are celebrating the launch of The Earth Gym with a day under the trees. A mini Earth Gym workout area with natural materials will be set up for all ages to move our bodies and play.
Speak with local companies and organizations who are ready to connect community members with resources to get outdoors- Alpine Ascents, Climbers of Color, Golden Bricks Events, Mt. Rainier Youth Conservation Corps, WA State Parks, WA National Parks Fund, WA Trails Association, and Winds and Waters are all attending to uplift a diverse outdoor community, especially BIPOC families. All of these groups have unique ways they support BIPOC folks they can't wait to share with you! If you are a BIPOC parent, educator, or community leader, please come out to connect with all these groups who are excited to uplift the community.
Experience a traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoe with Kikaha O Ke Kai. You will also be invited to learn about canoe highways used by the many Coast Salish tribes local to this area. We encourage you to arrive at 11AM to get on the sign-up list to paddle in a canoe and experience a piece of Indigenous history that has shaped our region.
Canoe rides, Gil's Tacos, and other goodies will be available on a first come-first serve basis. You are welcomed to pack a picnic and spend the day enjoying the park trails and the beach. Public, accessible restrooms are available. Please see the State Park website for more location details. For more information, contact Rachel Heaton at Info@theearthgym.co.
